Becky Foster is caught in middle age, middle management, and a middling marriage with no prospects for change when suddenly she stumbles into a situation that could give her nothing short of a new life. "Becky's New Car" is a thoroughly original comedy with serious overtones that will grab your attention and won't let go until the final scene. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 8 p.m.; Sunday matinees are at 2:30 p.m.

Mesquite Parks and Recreation and Community Heart of Mesquite are proud to present Kidfish at City Lake Park, 403 South Galloway Avenue, on April 28. Registration begins at 8 a.m.; with the official “casting of the first lure” being at 9 a.m. Kidfish is a free event for children 16 and younger. All fishing participants must register for the event. Limited poles and bait are provided. Participants may use their own fishing gear. Prizes and trophies are awarded immediately following the final measuring and weigh-in of the fish.
Donations to help expand the KidFish program are accepted for the event, although they are not necessary to participate. For more information on this event, please call 972-216-6260.

Derby Dog Day will be a fantastic fun day with your furry friend. This event will include, Dog/human Kentucky Derby hat contest, derby tour of the park ground, non-alcoholic mint juleps, build-you-own derby hats, pet adoptions with Mesquite Animal Shelter, vaccination clinic and more! Admittance is free. However, all dogs must present up-to-date shot records at the gate.
Tours also available by appointment. Fourth Saturday fees are $3 each, no more than $8 per family.

This weekend is the World of Outlaws Texas Nationals - World of Outlaws Series, USA Modified Invitational. Enjoy the racing season at the Southwest’s most famous dirt track! With its half-mile, oval clay track, Devil’s Bowl Speedway hosts the best in auto racing. Hours are 7 pm to 11 pm for the Spring Nationals. Races are March 16, 17, 31, April 7, 14, 21, 27,28, May 5, 12, 19, 26, 30 June 2, 9, 12, 16, 23, 30, July 7, 14, 21, 28, Aug. 4, 11, 18, 25, Sept. 1, Oct. 5, 6, 19, 20.
