    Mesquite Community Theatre presents "Once Upon a Mattress," (Teen Show), music by Mary Rodgers, Lyrics by Marshal Barer, Book by Jay Thompson, Dean Fuller, Marshal Barer. The hilarious and raucous adaptation of “The Princess and the Pea” this delightful musical puts an entirely new spin on the original fairy tale.   1. Doggie Splash Day

    Mesquite Parks and Recreation Department invites all dogs and their owners to 14th annual Doggie Splash Day on Saturday, August 12. This event is a great opportunity for dogs and their owners to cool off, compete for prizes, or just play at the pool. In an effort to make sure that everyone in attendance has a safe and enjoyable experience, all dogs will be required to show proof of current vaccinations and must be accompanied by a responsible person 16 and older. Aggressive or socially awkward dogs may be asked to leave. Lifeguards will be on duty. Dog owners are invited to swim with their pets, if desired. For more information, please call 972-216-6260.

    Presented by Historic Mesquite, Inc. Museum hours are each Thursday and Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; 2nd Saturday of the month from 10 am to 1 pm. Tours by appointment also. Entry fees for Second Saturday are $2 each/no more than $5 per family. Through Labor Day, HMI is participating as a Blue Star Museum and is offering free admission for active duty military and their families (up to 5 family members) and veterans of the U.S. Military and up to 5 family members.
