    Eastfield College Arts Collective presents Anna in the Tropics. Anna in the Tropics is set in Florida in 1929 in a Cuban–American cigar factory, where cigars are still rolled by hand and "lectors" are employed to educate and entertain the workers. The arrival of a new lector is a cause for celebration, but when he begins to read aloud from Anna Karenina, he unwittingly becomes a catalyst in the lives of his avid listeners, for whom Tolstoy, the tropics and the American dream prove a volatile combination.     Come see up to 160 purebred and household pet cats compete for top cat in 6 different judging rings each day. Meet Norwegian Forest Cats, Maine Coon Cats, Persians, Siamese, Manx, Tonkinese, Burmillas and up to 30 more breeds. You can sit and watch cats on the judging table, or walk around and visit with the cats between judging. No matter what time you arrive you’re bound to see your favorite breed being judged. This is the traditional second to the last weekend of the show season show sponsored by North Texas Cat Club and Fort Worth Cat Club. It is a show at the beautiful ballroom at the Hampton Inn. We are working with the new Holiday Inn Express across the street for rooms as the Hampton is sold out! Patrons can experience : GIANT RAFFLE TABLE (All donations gratefully accepted) SHOP for your cat or the cat-lover in your life. FREE coloring books for the first 50 children.     Mesquite Parks and Recreation and Community Heart of Mesquite are proud to present Kidfish at City Lake Park, 403 South Galloway Avenue, on April 28. Registration begins at 8 a.m.; with the official “casting of the first lure” being at 9 a.m. Kidfish is a free event for children 16 and younger. All fishing participants must register for the event. Limited poles and bait are provided. Participants may use their own fishing gear. Prizes and trophies are awarded immediately following the final measuring and weigh-in of the fish. Donations to help expand the KidFish program are accepted for the event, although they are not necessary to participate. For more information on this event, please call 972-216-6260.
